Air Force School of Air Power Studies


The School was inaugurated on 13 February 2015 by His Excellency, Dr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, former Commander-In-Chief of the Namibian Defence Force.

 

Mission

The mission of the SOAPS is to train, educate and develop commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the Air Force to the highest standard of professionalism.  

The core business of SOAPS is: 

  • Pilot Training
  • Technical training
  • Leadership and Staff development

The school consists of three training branches namely:

  1. Leadership and Academic Wing
  2. Flying Training Centre
  3. Technical Training Centre

The SOAPS is a premier training and education institution that offers dynamic opportunities for students and airmen who aspire to serve the Namibian Nation, its Defence Force and contribute to the social economic development and the achievement of National Security objectives.  

The School is not only providing training to the Namibian Air Force members but it has also attracted military students from other SADC member states. It offers qualifications in the field of Aircraft Mechanic, Avionics and Aircraft Armament.
