31 August 2020; The Namibian Navy conducted a change of command ceremony where the newly promoted Rear Admiral Alweendo Paulus Amagulu assumed command from Rear Admiral Sinsy Nghipandua who was the Navy Commander for the past three years.
At the ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters, Rear Admiral Nghipandua expressed his gratitude to all members of the navy for the support they rendered for him to carry out his command responsibilities."I am very pleased to have such a strong team that helped me during my time as a Navy Commander," he said, noting that it was indeed an honour and privilege to serve the NDF in that capacity.
On the other hand, the incoming Navy commander expressed his appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Namibian Defence Force for entrusting him to command the navy and also thanked the people who showed confidence in him and rallied behind his military career ever since he joined the NDF. "I would like to thank the people who invested in me, took interest in my professional development, challenged me and helped to grow into a man I am today," Rear Admiral Amugulu said, and further thanked his predeccesor for the exemplary leadership that is worth amulated.
Air Marshal Martin Pinehas who officiate the change of command also gave credit to the retired navy commanders for laying a strong foundation and urged the incoming commander to emulate the good deeds.
